Ahmedabad Airport Concession Agreement

The Adani Group arrived last year with aggressive bids and won privatization contracts at six airports. Last year, the group created businesses operating these airports. The Adani Group is also involved in legal disputes with the GVK Group over the acquisition of stakes in Mumbai International Airport. Recently, the Adani Group lost the offer from Jewar Airport from Uttar Pradesh to Swiss Zurich International Airport. Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has signed concession contracts with the Adani Group for the acquisition of services in Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangaluru Airports It has signed a 50-year contract for the operation, management and development of airports in Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati, Thiruvananthapuram and Mangaluru, to become the third private airport operator after GMR Group and GVK Group. Last August, the Adani Group added another source of revenue by entering the airport area and creating a new company called Adani Airports Ltd. She quoted a press article about the handover of Lucknow airport into private hands. The Adani Group has won the offer for the development and maintenance of Lucknow and Mangaluru airports.

On 14 February, the IAA signed concession contracts with the Adani Group for the operation, management and extension of Mangaluru, Lucknow and Ahmedabad airports. The concession period is 50 years from the date of trading, according to an official statement. The contracts were signed by their subsidiaries Adani Ahmedabad International Airport Ltd, Adani Lucknow International Airport Ltd and Adani Mangaluru International Airport Ltd. In February 2019, the central government privatized six major airports in the country — Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and Guwahati. After a tendering process, the Adani Group won the rights to lead them all for 50 years. MoUs are linked to the provision of routine airport services such as customs, immigration, plant and animal quarantine, health, mgen and security (hereinafter reserve services). At the same time, AAI has signed three separate CNS-ATM agreements with these companies for the provision of DEAE services at Ahmedabad, Lucknow and Mangluru airports. ATM CNS services are communications, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management services.
